Reconcile CTC with Fixed Monthly Pay
Explain why annual CTC divided by twelve can differ from fixed monthly take-home pay under the tool’s stated assumptions.
Use the interactive tool ↓Start with the offer components
CTC can include employer contributions and benefits that do not arrive in the monthly bank credit. Variable pay may depend on performance or a later payout. The calculator’s fixed monthly estimate separates these items; it does not reconstruct every employer’s payroll policy.

Assumptions
- Employer PF = 12% of basic; gratuity = 4.81% of basic; employee PF = 12% of basic — all toggleable above.
- Income tax is an estimate under the chosen regime (FY 2025-26 (AY 2026-27)) on fixed gross with standard deduction; old regime counts employee PF under 80C (capped ₹1.5L). Actual TDS depends on your full declarations.
- Professional tax varies by state. Variable/bonus pay is excluded from fixed monthly in-hand.
- This is an approximate take-home estimate, not a payslip. Confirm exact figures with your employer.
Check a transparent salary example
Use hypothetical annual CTC of ₹6,00,000, basic salary at 50%, zero variable pay, and professional tax of ₹200 per month. Leave employer PF, gratuity and employee PF enabled. Under these chosen assumptions:
- Basic salary is ₹3,00,000 annually.
- Employer PF is ₹36,000 and modeled gratuity is ₹14,430.
- Fixed gross becomes ₹5,49,570.
- Employee PF is ₹36,000; professional tax totals ₹2,400.
For this example the tool’s selected new-regime FY 2025–26 model estimates zero regular-income tax. Annual in-hand is therefore ₹5,11,170, or ₹42,597.50 per month before headline rounding. The percentages and professional-tax amount are example assumptions, not a statement of every employer’s obligations.
Know the most important limitation
The tool removes variable/bonus pay from fixed gross, then estimates tax on that fixed gross. Actual annual tax and monthly TDS may also reflect bonus, other income, deductions and employer adjustments. Excluding variable pay from monthly cash flow does not make it tax-free.
- Read which components your offer includes within CTC.
- Match the employer-PF and gratuity toggles to that offer.
- Enter realistic variable pay and applicable professional-tax assumptions.
- Compare the estimate with the employer’s salary breakup and payslip.
Avoid treating assumptions as legal entitlements
PF is modeled as 12% of the supplied basic without reproducing every wage ceiling or establishment rule. Gratuity uses a 4.81% CTC allocation; it is not an assurance of immediate cash entitlement. The tax engine is explicitly labeled FY 2025–26 (AY 2026–27), not every tax year.
The year-specific Income Tax Department reference helps distinguish a tax estimate from payroll cash flow. Use Income Tax Calculator for a separate supported regular-income scenario, then ask payroll to explain material differences rather than forcing this estimate to match.
