Extract a Checked Subset of PDF Pages

Create one PDF containing a selected subset of pages while distinguishing file positions from printed page labels.

Use the interactive tool ↓

Choose the subset before loading it elsewhere

Extracting a subset is useful when a recipient needs only a form or a few reference pages. It reduces what you share by selecting pages, but it is not a redaction tool for hidden information or sensitive content remaining on a selected page.

Check a short selection

For a six-page source, enter 1-3, 6 to create a single four-page output. Open the downloaded file and check that its pages correspond to source positions 1, 2, 3 and 6.

This selector sorts and deduplicates the selected positions. Entering 6, 1, 1 produces pages 1 and 6 once each, in ascending source order. It does not place page 6 first or intentionally duplicate page 1. Use a tool designed for page arrangement when that is your actual requirement.

  1. Confirm the loaded source’s page count.
  2. Enter whole page numbers and inclusive ranges.
  3. Select Extract & download.
  4. Compare the output page count and content against the selection.

Use positions, not printed labels

A title page or Roman-numbered introduction changes the relationship between file position and printed page number. If the page marked “1” is the third physical page, selecting 1 gets the cover, not that printed page. Verify positions in your PDF viewer first.

Out-of-range individual pages are rejected. A range that starts within the document but ends beyond it is clipped to the document’s end, and reversed range endpoints are normalised. Precise in-range selections make the outcome easier to audit.

Check more than the page pictures

The output is a new PDF assembled by copying pages. Forms, signature validity, document-level attachments and bookmarks may not behave like the original. If those features matter, test them explicitly and retain the source. Selecting pages does not establish a legally valid signature on the new file.

Troubleshoot the result

If the selection field rejects text, remove words and use the demonstrated comma/range syntax. If a source cannot be read, obtain an authorised, readable copy rather than assuming its extension guarantees validity. Large files can exceed browser memory. Use Split PDF when each range should become a separate file, or Merge PDF when you already have several documents to combine.
