How to Merge PDF Files Online

Add your PDFs, put the files in reading order, then choose Merge & download. Each file contributes all of its pages, in its existing page order.

Use the interactive tool ↓

Combine your documents

The merger below uses the same utility as the standalone Merge PDF tool. The merge itself runs in your browser. Document bytes are not uploaded by this utility; this does not mean that the website makes no network requests for assets or analytics.

Put the files in reading order

  1. Select at least two PDF files. Keep your originals until you have checked the downloaded result.
  2. Check each filename and page count in the file list. Use the up and down buttons to move whole files.
  3. Remove anything you added accidentally, then select Merge & download.
  4. Open the downloaded merged.pdf. Check the first page, the join between documents, and the final page.

A practical document pack

Suppose your pack contains a two-page cover letter, a three-page form, and a one-page receipt. Add them in that order to produce six pages. If the receipt should come first, move its file to the top before merging.

Six-page example

Starting pointCover letter: 2 pages + Form: 3 pages + Receipt: 1 page

What changesOne PDF: 6 pages, with each original document kept together

The arrows move entire files. To choose a subset of pages first, use Extract PDF Pages, then merge the extracted documents. Do not assume the merger will remove duplicate pages, create bookmarks, or preserve every interactive PDF feature.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Sorting by filename in your downloads folder does not change the order already shown in the merger.
  • Selecting the same document twice adds its pages twice. Check the file list before downloading.
  • A PDF extension does not guarantee a readable PDF. Opening a damaged file elsewhere may help you identify the problem.
  • A merged file is not necessarily smaller than its sources. If a receiving site imposes a size limit, inspect the download size and evaluate Compress PDF separately.

When a file will not merge

A read error can indicate encryption, an unsupported document structure, or corruption. Confirm that the original opens correctly. If you own the document and have permission, obtain an unprotected copy from its source. Never remove a restriction from a document you are not authorized to edit.

Large documents can exhaust browser memory even though no upload is required. Close unnecessary tabs, try fewer files, and keep a copy of each successful intermediate result. There is no promised file-size ceiling or completion time for this browser workflow.

Check before sharing

Compare the merged page count with the sum of the source counts. Read through the boundaries between files, and check forms, signatures, attachments, and links that matter to your use case. Combining documents can affect digital-signature validity; a merged copy should not be treated as proof that an original signature remains valid.

Do I need to upload the merged file again?

Only if you want to perform another operation or submit it somewhere. The download is a new file on your device. Toolza does not submit your application or deliver the document to a third party for you.
