Make an Ordered PDF from Photos

Prepare a readable photo document pack with deliberate page order and paper settings instead of assuming a PDF wrapper fixes the images.

Use the interactive tool ↓

Prepare the images before assembling pages

Put each photograph upright and crop unwanted surroundings in the source application when appropriate. This utility places one image on each PDF page; it does not recognise handwriting, straighten a photographed page, or turn the image into editable text.

Build a two-page document

Select two supported images, such as the front and back of a document. Use the arrows to make the front the first item and the back the second. Choose A4 or US Letter if the recipient expects a paper size, or Fit to image for pages sized from the image and margin.

  1. Check filenames and preview thumbnails before converting.
  2. Select paper size, orientation and a sensible margin.
  3. Choose Create & download PDF.
  4. Open images.pdf and inspect both page boundaries and small text.

Understand scaling and margins

On fixed paper sizes, the image is scaled proportionally to fit the available page area and centred. It is not cropped automatically to fill the sheet. Auto orientation chooses landscape for a wider-than-tall image on the paper-size modes. Fit to image uses the image dimensions and margins instead of an independent paper orientation.

Margins are PDF points, not source-image pixels or millimetres; 72 points correspond to an inch. A 24-point margin is roughly one third of an inch. Do not enter a margin so large that it consumes the available page area.

Know what conversion changes

The implementation re-encodes each image as JPEG before embedding it. Transparent areas become white, and JPEG encoding can alter fine detail. Creating a PDF does not guarantee a smaller file or improve a blurry photograph. Keep originals and compare readable text at the intended viewing size.

If the recipient needs searchable text, evaluate PDF OCR separately after checking the assembled pages. If the pack is too large, Compress PDF is a different operation with its own quality tradeoffs.

Troubleshoot a failed or unclear result

Use readable JPG or PNG files first, reduce enormous source dimensions if the tab runs out of memory, and verify each source image opens normally. Reordering files in your downloads folder does not reorder items already selected in the tool. Check the actual downloaded PDF before sending it.
